UK born Richard lives in Nashville, USA and is regarded as one of the
best acoustic guitar players on the scene today. He was influenced by
guitar legends Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, Lenny Breau and
Django Reinhardt. Richard does studio session work and has his own
bluegrass band. He also tours with and plays lead guitar in the very
popular Hot Club of Nashville, a Django Reinhardt tribute band. He was
a protégé of the late Chet Atkins who said of Richard "The
most amazing guy I know on the guitar. He can play anything I know,
only better". Tommy Emmanuel recently said "If you like my
playing, you should hear Richard Smith" Richard will entertain
you with some country pickin', jazz, ragtime, classical, gypsy jazz
and many good old standard tunes.
Richard will be accompanied by his wife, cellist Julie Adams. Julie
was raised in Dayton, Ohio and classically trained at the Cincinnati
Conservatory. Julie performs with various ensembles from orchestras to
folk groups and is always busy with session work in Nashville or
touring with Richard. They produced a highly acclaimed CD in 1999
entitled 'Living Out A Dream' and in 2009 they recorded their latest
called 'Seems Like Old Times' which they will be promoting at the
concert.
